Revelation
1:19-20 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which
are, and the things which will take place after this. The mystery of
the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden
lamp stands; The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches,
and the seven lamp stands which you saw are the seven churches.
Jesus
tells John to write the things he has seen, the things that are
happening right now and the things which will happen in the future.
Jesus explains the seven stars. The seven stars, in the palm of
Jesus' right hand, are the angels of the seven churches. The word
used for angel could also mean messengers or pastors of the churches.
The
seven lamp stands represent the seven churches. Jesus is in the midst
of the seven churches. Christ loves the church and gave himself, as a
sacrifice on the cross, that He might sanctify and cleanse the church
with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to
Himself, a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such
thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians
5:25-27)
